7 Namepicker

General usage
For Name Fields a name picker control provides a comfortable way to select people from the directory.

For an example there are 3 such fields in the project details form.


Name pickers behave differently from normal fields. Content in the input fields will not be saved unless they're added. To add a name hit the Add link or the enter key with the cursor is in the input field.

The name in the input field will be moved into a display field.

A name can be removed with a click on the cross.

The content of display fields can't be changed. You need to remove a name and add a new one.

Single name pickers will hide the input field if you add a name. The input field will be displayed again if you delete the name. With multiple name pickers the input field is cleared after adding.

Attention: You can type in any name. There is no validation against the directory, when you enter or save a name. But you can select names from the directory. There are two ways: 1. Type ahead function, 2. Searching

Type ahead function
While you type some search string in the input field the system will give you a list of suggestions for persons from the directory whose names (first name and last name) contain the same sequence of digits. A click on a suggestion will add the person.




Searching names
You can search for names by selecting this icon . The search dialog contains an input field and a list field. After entering a search string click either the search button or the enter key to display the search results. A name can then be added with a click on the Select link.
